Safety and Protection of Minors Policy Training
The Safety and Protection of Minors Policy training highlights critical points from the VCU Safety and Protection of Minors Policy. Tier I and Tier II individuals involved in programs or activities with minors are required to take this training.
To receive credit for the training, Tier I & II individuals must complete all quizzes and answer 80 percent of questions correctly, and e-mail score certificates to program supervisor. Program supervisors must store all Tier I & II individuals score certificates in a central repository.
Tier I Individuals:
- have prime responsibility for operating a program, and
- engage in one-on-one and group setting interactions with youth without direct supervision.
Examples include full-time and part-time employees who are in supervisory roles or a VCU Point Person who is a hosted program’s main contact. Please allow 45 minutes to an hour of concentrated time.
Take the required Tier I Training
Tier II Individuals:
- report to a supervisor or point person above them, and
- engage in one-on-one and group setting interactions with youth without direct supervision.
Examples include full-time employees, part time employees, hourly staff and interns. Please allow 30 minutes of concentrated time.
Take the required Tier II Training
Tier III Individuals:
- may not engage in one-on-one interaction with minors, and
- may only intereact with minors under the direct supervision of a Tier I or Tier II individual.
Volunteers are typically Tier III individuals.
